WCG 2008: Day 3 Results - Single Elimination Stage

The Warcraft tournament on Day 3 of WCG saw some really amazing games. The intensity of the games played was even greater since it was a knock-out phase. It was pretty obvious who would advance from the round of top 16 to the quarter-finals, with the exception of Like vs ToD, where with the use of some risky tower pushes ToD was able to defeat Like and moved on to face Grubby in the quarter-finals.

Having used his surprise tactic against Like already, ToD admitted that the King of Orcs was going to be hard to take down in an interview with SK-Gaming. That is what exactly happened, and Grubby came on top after three close games. Another quarter-final match that generated much interest was Moon vs TeD. Moon recovered from being down 0-1 in map score, taking the series with a score of 2-1.

The semi-finals saw Moon winning over Happy and Grubby over HoT. This set the stage for the most anticipated and THE greatest WCG final ever: MYM]Moon vs MYM]Grubby. The final is going to be played today, at 13:00 CET and will be streamed live on ESL TV, and WCG’s official stream. Let’s hope the streams are able to handle the load of the amount of expected spectators, which could be a record high!

WCG 2008: Day 2 Results

The second day of World Cyber Games 2008 marks the end of the group stage for all titles part of the event. Pakistan’s games for CS, FIFA and CnC3 have been completed and the results were not bad at all!

FIFA player ‘SmoothCriminal’ had a very impressive run in his group. With a total of four games that he had to play, he was up 2-0 initially. I personally thought he was going to qualify from his group since he was leading the points table at that time. He lost the next two games, however, due to which he was tied for second place. ‘Orchi’ from Bangladesh managed to win the tie-breaker between them and qualified from the group with SmoothCriminal finishing third. (EDIT: There was no tie-breaker between them. In fact second place was awarded directly to the winner of their head to head group match - Orchi).

Team ‘incredibles’ who are representing Pakistan for Counter-Strike went 1-4 in their group with their win being against Simplex. Their losses include a very close game against ’Assassin List’ from UAE.

For CnC 3, ‘Pantera’ was able to take two maps out of six, finishing 2-4 overall in his group.

WCG 2008: Pakistan off to a Good Start!

WCG2008

Day 1 at World Cyber Games 2008 has ended and with some encouraging results from the WarCraft 3 department, currently being represented solely by Bilal Rasheed. Bilal is an accomplished user of the Night Elf race.

Bilal’s, Group D, group had his international teammate Kim from the Chinese Taipei, the Croat P1nke and the German underdog S.o.K.o.L. He managed to win 4 out of 6 games leading to a three way tie between him, P1nke, and S.o.K.o.L. But after the tie-breakers, it was S.o.K.o.L who won the second qualifying spot form the group.

Friends from all over the world praised Bilal’s performance in the tournament. This is for the first time that someone this young has accomplished something like this.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe Arriving this month!

In PlayStation 3, Video, Xbox360.

Midway will be releasing Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe on XBox 360 and PlayStation 3 this month! The game will feature super heroes from the DC Universe such as Superman, Batman, The Flash while the Mortal Kombat team will have all the classic characters like Subzero, Scorpion, Rayden, Lui Kang etc.

The game looks very impressive in the trailer and the moves are really smooth and glossy. Partly because it is using the Unreal 3 Engine. Some really innovative features have been added to the game, such as power balancing and multi-platform fights, reversals and close combat fights. After looking at the video I have to say, the sound is amazing and the effects are too good for anyone to miss this game! Check out the video after the jump!

The New Apple MacBook is not clicking: It has issues!

Posted by zEro on March 17th, 2009
In Apple, Hardware, Laptop.

As heretic as that may sound, lately I have been evangelizing the use of laptops, and have converted a few of my friends but not for gaming.

The hottest $h1t in the laptop market are Apple’s New Macbooks that have just come out a few weeks ago. But they are not without with their share of problems and issues.

As CrunchGear reports, Apple Macbooks are experiencing touch pad click failure 60% of the time! That is almost 50% of the clicks you make. It’s frustating enough because the touchpad does not have buttons and as a design tradition at Apple, the right click we have in PCs, they use the Command (?) button + mouse-click.

An official thread open at Apple’s Discussion forums discusses this very problem, and people are speculating what the problem might be.

Anyone else experiencing this same problem, if they got the New Macbook?

Crippled Girl Can Talk!: Motion Sensing Laser Technology can Revolutionize Gaming!

In Technology.

Six year old Elke Wisbey is brain damaged and hardly able to communicate. But with the help of new toy developed by MyTobii, the prohibitively priced Smartbox machine brings new hope to the family of this crippled child.

At £17,000 the Smartbox machine uses motion sensors to detect the motion and aim of the two eyes of the little child, and what they are looking at. Using a macro/avatar/icon based interface, Elke is able to point to objects on the screen that represent a set of words or emotes.

Thought to be totally disabled in expressing her feelings, Elke was able to say the sweetest thing to her mother, “I love you, mum!” It was when her 9 year old brother, Gallahad, noticed what she was trying to say that they realized what had just happened. Days when she would be completely independent and assisted by such devices are not far away.
