Sky carries the Olympic Torch
XiaoFeng “Sky” Li had carried the Olympic Torch and has become one of the ten gamers that have announced they will carry the torch for this momentous event. Other gamers that will join Sky are WarCraft 3 player JaeHo “Moon” Jang, and StarCraft player Junchun “Pj” Sha.
SK Gaming has more on this and a few pictures too.
It’s a great thing that the gamers are getting in on the act and the organizers are supporting them too. This is a great publicity opportunity for gamers and the gaming community.
ToD: “Boycotting the Olympics because of a political issue that has nothing to do with the event itself is plain stupid”
Beijing Olympics 2008 have had the most controversial torch runs in recent history. Marred by political activism against China’s standing in Tibet, parts of the international community are condemning the county of 1.3 billion people for not doing enough to let democracy and freedom flourish in the tiny country of Tibet.
But people like ToD, the professional WC3 player from France has actually stood up against the nonsense that has taken it’s toll on a sporting event and come out and said he is against the French President Nikolas Sarkozy’s recent announcement to boycott the Olympics. He claims it is stupid and unrelated. He shares his feelings with fellow Chinese gamers who see no connection between a sporting event and a political issue. Many celebrities like him have claimed that the activists are hijacking the event for their political purpose.
While the issue is really controversial, there is some truth in it. The Olympics are a sporting event and should not be used to communicate a political message, or channel political hate. The fact of the matter that China is hosting the Olympics does not mean they are an open target for criticism.

In his own ‘Space’ he won the AWL 3 Final!
Professional Gaming is not only considered a great test of mental abilities but also a test of the physical limits one can push with their mind and body. Fnatic.Space is one such Korean WarCraft 3 player who has a disease that has left him crippled, and has only a few years to live. He is 13 years old, and can only use a few fingers, his head, and his wrist to move any body part. He is clinically disabled.
Yet that is not something that is stopping him from playing against the toughest opponents and giving them a hard time. Trust me, this is no exaggeration just for a cause, but the truth. Fnatic.Space, as seen below is in a miserable state of physique that the rest of us take for granted.

I consider him to be the best (there is), considering the condition he plays in.
Winning numerous point for his teams in offline and online clanwars, he is by far the best player in his team. We wish Space all the best for his future gaming career, and may he be able to tell the world that he IS the best!
SK.Lyn however ended up winning the AWL 3 Final.
Round up of super WarCraft 3 Interviews
Let me just aggregate for you some really cool interviews in the last few days from both the WarCraft 3 community.
The first one is from GosuGamers and they interviewed the Ukrainian Nightelf player GG.HoT. A very good interview considering HoT remained humble and he accepted mistakes that might not have particularly be his. He join team Gravitas Gaming this December, who haven’t shown their true potential as yet. Discuss the interview here, thanks Tj for the info. HoT was formerly an SK player.
WC3L: Playday 6 has WE beating MYM!
I wasn’t going to expect MYM to lose a single clan war, but as it seems they are not really good in the management department. World Elite took them down [3:2] yesterday when the NGL-One winners played with Grubby, Moon, Susiria and Lucifer. All of whom lost their 1v1 matches expect Moon winning [2:0] over Like.
Sky met Grubby on Gnoll Wood and with an Mountain King first strat on Echo Isles, defeated him two matches straight to take the ‘derby’ match [2:0]. A great deal of rivalry exists between them since the days of WCG when he was able to dethrone Grubby as the WCG champion.
Rafey, one of our resident gosus on gamerpk forums, had this insight to add:
The matchups turned out for WE just as they predicted. They knew MYM would put grubby on GW and moon on EI. That is why they put sky on GW (Grubby never beats sky) and Like on EI (so that moon does not face sky/infi and is kind of wasted). The only thing they did not know was whether MYM would play Shy or Susiria. MYM did a good job benching Focus, since there was only one orc map, GW, and they preferred Grubby over Focus. I guess WE won the mind game Very Happy. The only thing that surprises me is that TeD beat Susiria o:

SK - XLord Controvesy: Story of the ‘X’
Late last year, SK Gaming’s WC3 division was losing one of it’s legendary players. SK.Insomnia. Inso, as he is more commonly known as, was going inactive after staying with the clan from the beginning of his professional WC3 career till the end. Winning numerous trophies and events which included WCG 2003 finals and numerous lans. He was known for his professionalism, innovation and mannerism.
SK.HoT, the prolific Ukrainian Nightelf player also left for Gravitas soon after, as a new breed of Korean recruits were gearing up to take the helm of SK.WC3. The Deadman and Ownsitch debacle occurred and Deadman left too. Amongst them was a German Undead player called XLord. Daniel “XLord” Spenst was a good prospect, considering his age and the amount of talent he showed. Playing good in lans and online leagues, XLord soon established himself as a good Undead player. Comments that make no sense…
Why do people post them? Here is a master piece of a comment from an Indian gaming blog. Dude needs to learn to be a cynic.
…China is going to climb nowhere in the gaming market…
If there was any other country worth of competing at the highest level in e-sports, it would be China. RocketBoy a famous Quake 3 player, the Human player Sky, and countless many form a formidable army of Chinese gamers who have performed and won on the highest levels. Countless tournaments take place in China, WEG, CEG, WGT to name a few.
Not to forget they are going to have Digital Games this year in Shanghai, too. WTF is this dude talking about?
