Novel idea, brilliant!
When ‘home alone’ ask Macaulay and Mila!
Movies are going down. The film industry is facing a slow down thanks to a surging gaming market and industry, plus the recent writer’s strike, etc. Apart from gadgets, web 2.0 web apps, and new media, the next hip thing is gaming. Ask these celebrities who have been interviewed by online e-Zine ‘Complex‘ who quized the two stars about World of WarCraft.
World of WarCraft is Blizzard’s massively popular massively multiplayer online role playing game. Which literally defines it’s genre, MMORPG. It is a paid subscription game that is extremely popular all over the world, especially North America.
Macaulay Culkin is famous for his Home Alone movies series, a cute face, and drug abuse. Mila Kunis is a more stable yet equally intelligent That 70’s Show (Wikipedia) super babe.
Surprisingly Mila and Macaulay were amazingly well informed about the game and was able to name famous sub-culture phenomenon that people on the fringe of the WoW world barely know. They both scored an awesome 5.8 on the quiz.
According to Mila, the nerdiest thing people can do on World of WarCraft, is “playing it”. She was also name the infamous name that was popularized by YouTube raid video.

WarCraft 3: Patch 1.22 Entering Public Beta
Karune, the online community PR manager, has finally made some sound regarding the WarCraft 3 patch 1.22 that has been waited for since 1 year and a few months now. Karune on the Blizzard’s WarCraft 3 Battle.net Forums has posted that the Patch 1.22 will enter public beta on their servers, so to playtest that patch, gamers need to upgrade to 1.22b. Unfortunately if they want to play the Battle.net on the current patch they will have to download grade once again.
March 19th, 2008- The Dev Team is now preparing test servers with the patch that will be available for testing by the public. In order to jump on these servers, you will have to upgrade your version of the game to the test patch. Upon completion of the testing on the public test server, those participating will have to downgrade their version of the game back to the latest retail patch. We will also be using Battle.net forums to gather feedback and bug reports from the community. Exact location of this forum is still to be determined.
But the best part is it is almost here! Read the developments as we followed on the blog, here. Also find on the blow the list of proposed changes in the game. Blizzard has taken user input to the next level. Just release the damned patch!
StarCraft 2: The Crucible of Culture!

It’s hard for Blizzard to come out and deliver a kick ass gaming title. More over make it a cultural icon. An entire nation for a fan base. Countless bucks being given off in the name of their product that they launched 10 years back and still lay back and take a day off.
But that is certainly not happening at Blizzard who are feverishly developing their new title StarCraft 2. With continous input from the gaming community they wish to target they are not doing it just for the heck of it. They know they have a huge responsibility to shoulder. Should they come out with a second grade product it is quite possible they might lose their fan base, the market or the tournaments to other products from different companies that are trying to make some space for themselves. Business wise, StarCraft 2 must meet expectations.
In-Game Advertisment: SC2 won’t have!
While advertisements have become a boon for the internet community over the years, the fact they have been realized as a method of self sustaining projects is taking roots fast. Even in the gaming industry producers and developers are trying to harness sponsorship and advertisement money to reduce tariffs and improve on their products.
When the internet was taking over the world, things like pop ups and flashy ads were becoming an eye-sore for the user, yet a method to earn big bucks for websites. Soon it became known that bad website or product design didn’t take care of user friendliness and how the advertisements appeared.
Competitive gaming is taking hold in communities as a form of a spectator sport very fast. In Korea it already is an big sponsorship money is thrown into tournaments and onto players, because people like them, and it makes marketing sense. Same is the case with Europe and now gradually taking over the Americas.
WarCraft 3 patch 1.22 Confirmed - Download here!
The highly anticipated patch 1.22 has finally been confirmed by Blizzard’s Battle.net. Read the announcement over at their forums. We already discussed some changes that were proposed and some of which were rumor, here on gamerpk. Some of the changes were insane, some of them were NEEDED! Patch 1.21b was only introduced to remove the CD requirement. It was a ‘no CD’ patch.

Blizzard Loots $1.2 Billion From 2007, Thanks To WoW
Vivendi, of which Blizzard Entertainment is a division, released its 2007 earnings revenues today, revealing that the World of Warcraft publisher raked in $1.2 billion (€814 million) in revenue last year. WoW’s 10 million large subscriber base contributed the lion’s share of the Vivendi Games division’s $1.5 billion take (€1.018 billion). Blizzard’s revenue was up 58% year over year which can be attributed to strong sales of World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade and a subscriber boost of 2 million people.
Vivendi pointed to lower earnings from its Sierra label, with sales of Crash of the Titans, Spyro: The Eternal Night, F.E.A.R. Perseus Mandate, Timeshift and World in Conflict as “not as strong as the 2006 release slate.” Let’s hear it for World of Warcraft, ladies and gentlemen!

2 New StarCraft2 Screens Released!
Blizzard released two new screens for Starcraft 2 today. While neither show your traditional top-down RTS gameplay, they do show off the game’s adventure-styled hub setting. And how gorgeous it’s looking. They also give us a close-up of one of the game’s leading characters, rebel fighter Jim Raynor, who looks like he could do with more sleep.
