Grand Theft Auto 4: Super Addendum FAQ!
Don’t consider yourself poor or unfortunate for not having been able to play GTA 4 yet. There are thousands like us out there that haven’t. According to Associated Press, the launch of this game could be the most lucrative franchise in gaming history! Even more than last year’s, over hyped, Halo 3.
Anyhoo, the good guys over at Kotaku have assembled a list of 40 questions that needed answering straight off, and entertaining a lot more in the comments sections of the GTA 4 FAQ:
15. Do helicopters have weapons?
Some do. Good luck hitting anything with the mini-guns! You might have better luck taking out foes with the chopper’s blades.28. Can you run police, fireman, or taxi extra missions in GTA IV?
You can take on police missions via the LCPD computer. There’s one in every cop car. You can earn taxi missions, but they’re handled through one of your friends. We haven’t seen any fireman missions, but we have taken the fire truck out for spin (and pedestrian hose-down).34. How much does the phone tie into gameplay?
It ties in very heavily. Niko will use it to make and receive calls, remind him of appointments, take pictures, call cabs, phone in favors, and more. Need a cop car? Call 911, wait for the LCPD, then carjack it. The cell phone is also your entry point for accessing multiplayer games.
Back with Bringing Down the Sky
Like Zero, I was away myself for a while. The main reason was my MS thesis that I had to complete. Now that its done and I am ready to graduate, I thought that I should write a post about downloadable content for Mass Effect called Bringing Down The Sky. You have to pay 400 Microsoft points to download this content. What it does is that, it adds a small storyline about a militant alien race, Batarians who are trying to crash an asteroid into a planet. We need to stop them and here again, we can do our job in many ways as with all other tasks. But this time around the side quests along with the main mission make better sense and the mission is not bad itself as we need to make tough choices.
If you have not yet bought Mass Effect for xbox 360, I will suggest to wait and get the PC release of the game as it will include this downloadable content and much better UI for playing the game.
As for the xbox guys only get this content if you loved the original mass effect and want more of it. Oh, btw, this content will only be available to be played if you have not finished the final mission and still pick missions from all over the galaxy, i.e., you are a specte, which also means that if you are starting a new game, you will need to play through a good 30 mins to unlock this content. The content will give you a solid 2 hours of extra playtime.

Even though this is the console version, however, its still great news about the highy anticipated upcoming title from Rockstars ™. The full list of Xbox 360 Achievements for Grand Theft Auto IV may have been leaked, with two separate sources posting a list of fifty supposed Gamerscore-building accomplishments. The list includes some expected Achievements for things like hidden packages, stunt jumps, mission completions and mini-games, but some of the alleged feats are interesting and unique. Replay Analysis - hoorai.DieSeL vs DeltaBenQapm
The international WarCraft III scene is arguably at its peak right now. There are so many leagues and tournaments taking place simultaneously that it is now almost impossible to follow each and every one of them. With tournaments like these, the number of quality replays that are produced on a daily basis are also on an all-time high.
Lately, there has been a growing trend of solo online tournaments… a trend set by incup. While incup itself is not active anymore, we have seen new tournaments as such, which include ZOTAC cup, Excello cup (Euro, America and Asia) and WHL cup just to name a few. The replay that I will cover today is a semi-final from ZOTAC #22 between Canadian Undead “apm” and Bulgarian Night Elf “DieSeL”.
Patapon

Crisis Core comes out for the PSP on the 25th of March. Thats tomorrow. One of two titles that persuaded me to purchase a PSP. The other title was Patapon. I saw it being praised on a couple of video podcasts, it got lots of great reviews and awards. Its gameplay is nothing but 2D. A simplistic real time strategy game where you maintain your units, upgrade their gear and progress through the storyline by just pressing 4 buttons to maintain the rhythm. Its really easy to learn and after a few minutes you suddenly become addicted to this game.
The story is about a tribe of people, Patapon, whose glory days were put to an end by the evil Zigaton tribe. You take on the role as their god and use these war drums to direct the Patapons to reclaim their land. As you take these people on the road to prosperity, there are some mini-games you can play. The gameplay gets increasingly challenging, you get more unit and you unlock more drum rhythms as you progress through the storyline.

For just $20 you get hours and hours of entertainment. Its very appealing to new people who aren’t gamers and the chanting the patapon characters do just gets stuck in your head. My Khala (aunt) plays it more than I do now. This game is a must play. The best of video games released in 2008. Its a new game of its kind. The entire artwork is just fantastic, thanks to Rolito, who’s been working on this for around 5 years.
1up gave it an A grade. Gamespot gave it a 9 out 10. IGN gave it a 9.2 out 10. The official website hosts a demo version for the PC. A nice move to encourage purchase of the game which is only on the PSP platform. There is no multiplayer in case you’re wondering. The site also has cool wallpapers and a fan art pack loaded with character jpegs and backgrounds.
“This game is insanely addictive, disturbingly fun, and maddeningly frustrating all at the same time.”
(Adam, 1up commentator)

Mass Effect, Played, Dissected and Loved
Role playing games have a couple of varieties. There are Japanese RPGs, where there are tons of menus and all combat is turned based (Final Fantasy, Lost Odyssey, etc) or there are the hack and slash category where you play in real time and improve your character (Diablo, Dungeon Siege, Titan Quest etc). But then there is the open ended category which has so recently been introduced by the titles like The Witcher, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and S.T.A.L.K.E.R, which gives you an open environment to go to and develop your character as you want.
Then there is the 4th category introduced by Bioware in the shape of Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic (KOTOR), Jade Empire and now Mass Effect. The beauty of these type of games is that, the entire story continues in a cinematic way. You have a lot of say in all the dialogs and whatever you do changes the entire story and your character. I had been waiting to get my hands on Mass Effect and ever since I have bought it, I cant stop playing it.
SporeTube
So the recent game that has caught my imagination has to be Spore. It seems to be a perfect storm for a person who is into sim games - a heaven for anyone who wants to have long hours to himself and his game. Spore promises so much more than just a single player game. There are features reviewers are unraveling that make gameplay an incredibly public affair.
