World of WarCraft Patch Repo!
Lately I fired up and installed my untouched copy of World of Warcraft bought from USA. It had been sitting in the closet due to some initial failures I incurred
But finally it installed, I created an account and logged on.
Lo and Behold, I had to download some 3 to 5 gibs of updates just to play the game. I knew that would happen… without regrets I started downloading via the patch downloaded bundled with the game.
It uses a dynamic hash table (DHT) mechanism to keep a track of IPs sharing the same content. Much akin to the bittorrent protocol. Anyways, given to the fact that I am in Pakistan and I couldn’t really find people downloading the same patch to leech from, I was getting no where near completion of the 500+ meg download.
I knew Blizzard wouldn’t leave their fans in a lurch and searched up where I could download patches via HTTP. Thankfully there was a huge repository of reliable hosts that was serving them. It was Blizzard support themselves that listed various mirrors to these patches. Without wasting a second, I started downloading them one by one.
If you are having trouble download patches, or sit behind a firewall, I suggest you try the following link: World of Warcraft Patch Mirrors.
Good luck, have fun!
WarCraft 3: Patch 1.22 Entering Public Beta
Karune, the online community PR manager, has finally made some sound regarding the WarCraft 3 patch 1.22 that has been waited for since 1 year and a few months now. Karune on the Blizzard’s WarCraft 3 Battle.net Forums has posted that the Patch 1.22 will enter public beta on their servers, so to playtest that patch, gamers need to upgrade to 1.22b. Unfortunately if they want to play the Battle.net on the current patch they will have to download grade once again.
March 19th, 2008- The Dev Team is now preparing test servers with the patch that will be available for testing by the public. In order to jump on these servers, you will have to upgrade your version of the game to the test patch. Upon completion of the testing on the public test server, those participating will have to downgrade their version of the game back to the latest retail patch. We will also be using Battle.net forums to gather feedback and bug reports from the community. Exact location of this forum is still to be determined.
But the best part is it is almost here! Read the developments as we followed on the blog, here. Also find on the blow the list of proposed changes in the game. Blizzard has taken user input to the next level. Just release the damned patch!

StarCraft 2: Zerg Gameplay Video Surfaces
After posting about the new intro video that was released yesterday in South Korea, thisisgame has managed to publish a game play video that has actuall in game units fighting and crawling around. This part of the gameplay introduction about 8 months back was missing, so here it is!
This video features Zerglings taking on a bunch of marines, medics and siege tanks that are fortified around a cliff. The next part shows how a Nydus worm opens up in the middle of a Protoss base and launches a flood of bane-lings. And so on and so forth there is a mention of almost all the units from the Zerg race. This video although does not have the narration like the earlier ones had.

FireFox 3 goes into Beta testing phase 3
The much awaited FireFox 3 has finally been revealed. Thanks to a few special acquaintance of mine, I was directed to the beta site for the immensely popular web browser. Beta testing is a phase designed for the Developer’s needs, not for the user’s joy. So don’t be disappointed if a few add-ons don’t work (yet) on your browser, they eventually will when the full release is pushed.
So if you want to go through the process of helping the FF team out, and filling bugs, head on over to the Mozilla Beta Test site, and follow the release notes link to get to the download link. This is an open beta, join in the development process and have fun.
If you want to know what improvements there are to the browse, suffice to say that, “The Fox just got faster, leaner and meaner.”

WarCraft 3 patch 1.22 Confirmed - Download here!
The highly anticipated patch 1.22 has finally been confirmed by Blizzard’s Battle.net. Read the announcement over at their forums. We already discussed some changes that were proposed and some of which were rumor, here on gamerpk. Some of the changes were insane, some of them were NEEDED! Patch 1.21b was only introduced to remove the CD requirement. It was a ‘no CD’ patch.
