AMD Game Aimed To Help Gamers Achieve Peak Performance

Posted by zEro on 20th, 2008

AMD has recently launched a new program called AMD Game that will address the issues faced today by gamers who want to achieve immaculate performance form their machines.

AMD’s Game program aims to break down the key components and hardwares from the company to allow the gamer to achieve better performance and better frame-rates on higher resolutions while playing games.

Although a brilliant marketing campaign, the need of such services was way over-due. AMD Game and AMD Game Ultra will provide two tiers of gaming system specs that will cater to different budgets and tastes.

AMD Game has been extensively discussed over at Ars Technica, read the entire article there.

Wi-Tribe in Pakistan [Rumor]

Posted by zEro on 14th, 2008

Wi-Tribe WiMAX PakistanWe come to know through another blog from Pakistan that the much promised WiMAX technology for the companies owned by the Orsacom group in Pakistan is here. It goes by the name Wi-Tribe and currently operates in Jordan. They are planning to run their their WiMAX services through LINKdotNET. If that happens, they will be Wateen WiMAX’s only competition in the country and might spur both of them in a heated competition.

From Wi-Tribe’s website I learn that they are deep into providing WiMAX and also into providing Wi-Fi hot spots all over Jordan.

I Spy With My Little iSight!

Posted by zEro on 11th, 2008

iSightA few days ago I did a story on how personal privacy and safety were being debated in the computer industry and just today I read an interesting piece on how the iSight for the MacBook actually helped someone recover their stolen laptop.

Before I go any further, I think the iSight coupled with the Back To My Mac remote computing software for MacBooks can be a perfect spy tool.

Anyways, so to cut a long story short, a woman who had her MacBook stolen logged into her Back To My Mac application and activated her iSight camera. She got what she wanted! The thief in the camera. The thieves were caught and the woman who wishes to remain nameless got her laptop back.

And in other news, the first Gear of War 2 footage is here.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Wishlist [Improving GTA]

Posted by zEro on 10th, 2008

There is always something that could improve a game, and GTA 4 is one such game where everyone wants to see it get better and better. Like it already isn’t

People over at Kombo.com have compiled a list of 8 things they would like to see added in the game that would substantially take it to beyond a 10/10 rating. It is understood that there are other things that need to be taken care of before these new features can be added, and the article author does mention,

What does Apple have for the gamers?

Posted by zEro on 9th, 2008

Currently, nothing. But in the near future, it might! That is that big question today. What does Apple have for the gamers?

It’s very true that Apple has seen a lot of success in the personal gadget arena, and have always been a good contender in the personal computing market. They also have had a lot of success with the Apple TV products and their notebooks are selling like hotcakes.

Apple has a strong presence in the hardware arena and they provide powerful personal computers. An interesting article I read on another blog notes that it might just be the time for Apple to hit the gaming market with a new product and take it by storm. They might very well be successful again.

While a major chunk of the gaming market apple has been eaten by the console vendors and personal computer vendors, I won’t be surprised if Apple woos in people with their aesthetic sense of powerful hardware design.

Two things everyone understand!

What is the Web 3.0 all about?

Posted by zEro on 9th, 2008

So we’ve come across the term Web 2.0 a lot now, and we see it being used with virtually all new applications that are coming out. Just when you thought “Web 2.0″ was a useless meme, researchers and forcasters say there will be a Web 3.0, too.

Yes. But contrary to popular belief, these versions of the Web are not upgrades of a single service or patches to an old one. It’s basically a whole new philosophy of approach towards information and the web. How to organize it, how to index it, how to share it, how to search it, how to store it, and all that. With internet availability being a smaller issue today, than it was 10 years ago, and with speeds much faster now, the Web is taking a whole new meaning for users and publishers.

We are entering the age where information is more meshed together than ever before. I came across a wonderful article that actually explained how a few technologies could help the advent of the Web 3.0 and how it would be fascinating to see new applications emerge that would make information access much, much easier and simpler.

Gaming today is quite linear in terms of information that they require. Gaming today relies only on the information that the game contains. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a game that could actually change dynamically to the real world scenarios and events?

Blizzard Store now offers Downloadable Games!

Posted by zEro on 7th, 2008

The age of downloadable content over the internet is here. Blizzard Store recently revamped it’s design and function and will now serve all original-cd key holders as content delievery site where they can down their game anytime from anywhere if their cd key is verified and checks out for that particular game.

This not only helps buying a game over and over again just because you left your game in another country, or just because you scratched your cd and the cat made a treadmill out of it, it also helps the gamers keep playing the game.

Games available for download are:

  • Diablo II*
  • Diablo II: Lord of Destruction*
  • Diablo II Battlechest*
  • StarCraft
  • StarCraft Battlechest
  • StarCraft Anthology
  • Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
  • Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne Expansion Pack

*digital download coming soon. World of WarCraft or any of it’s expansion packs are not available.

Novel idea, brilliant!
