WC3L Season XIV Update

Warcraft’s most prestigious league, the WC3L, is heading towards the end of its current season. With a total of 11 playdays*, playday 10 is set to commence today with WE squaring off against SK.
When the season started, anyone could tell that by the end MYM, mTw, SK, fnatic and WE would be leading the pack. Infact, the competition between these 5 teams is so tight that only 3 points currently separate 1st place (MYM) from the 5th (mTw).

It’s definitely desirable to come out on top, but why would a team want to be ranked say… 2nd over 3rd? or 6th over 7th? The league holds offline finals after the online league phase is over. The top 2 teams from the league directly get a spot at the offline finals and the ones ranked 3-6th compete in the playoff phase from where 2 more teams qualify for the offline finals.
Race for top 2:
While the 5 teams mentioned above will definitely end up in the top 6, it is completely unclear which two will prevail over the rest. fnatic has done quite well so far by scoring maximum points against lower teams, and is currently ranked 3rd. However they have two tough matches ahead and i don’t think they’ll be able to make it in the top 2. It’s very hard to predict which of the remaining 4 will get to avoid the playoffs, which makes the remaining season VERY interesting.
Race for 6th place:
Moving towards the middle of the table, the fight for 6th place would be interesting. While it’s probably Gravitas which is going to get the chance to battle further for a spot at the offline finals, Team Alternate and nGize do pose a threat.
The WC3L is a MUST to follow for every warcraft fan. And for those who are either inactive or don’t have the time to watch replays, a quick glance at battle reports on their regularly updated website usually gives a good idea of how the scene is progressing. Replays, schedules and all sort of statistics are also up there.
Here are a few good games from recent playdays that i’ve uploaded for you guys:
Oh and make sure you don’t miss the match of the week - SK vs WE at 15:00 CET today! The games would be streamed on Waaagh!tv.
*A playday is actually a week long, during which each clan plays one match.

It’s not nWo anymore… they changed their organisation to YDK :D. They ended third last in the rankings.
Oh and fnatic really proved me wrong. They went 5-0 against MYM! let’s see how well they do versus mTw today.
