Beijing Olympics 2008 have had the most controversial torch runs in recent history. Marred by political activism against China’s standing in Tibet, parts of the international community are condemning the county of 1.3 billion people for not doing enough to let democracy and freedom flourish in the tiny country of Tibet.

mouz.ToD In ChinaBut people like ToD, the professional WC3 player from France has actually stood up against the nonsense that has taken it’s toll on a sporting event and come out and said he is against the French President Nikolas Sarkozy’s recent announcement to boycott the Olympics. He claims it is stupid and unrelated. He shares his feelings with fellow Chinese gamers who see no connection between a sporting event and a political issue. Many celebrities like him have claimed that the activists are hijacking the event for their political purpose.

While the issue is really controversial, there is some truth in it. The Olympics are a sporting event and should not be used to communicate a political message, or channel political hate. The fact of the matter that China is hosting the Olympics does not mean they are an open target for criticism.
