DarKboi wins WarCraft as ‘aTe’ win Counter Strike Indian KODE5 Finals

In Counter-Strike 1.6, LAN, Personal Computer, Tournaments, WarCraft 3.

News coming out of India about their recently finished national qualifiers for the KODE5 tournament has it that Sagar “DarKboi” Vaishnav has won the WarCraft 3 lan, and Clan ‘aTe’ has won the Counter Strike lan. Both these people will be representing India in Moscow on 9th of May, where the KODE5 finals will be held.

kode5_india_darkboi.jpgSagar Vaishnav is an Undead player and quite well known around the gaming community in Asia. DarKboi as he is currently known formerly went by the alias SAiNT2K. Of the recent has had a lot of high profile appearances himself. He represented India in WCG 2007 and ESWC 2006. When asked about his preparation, he humbly admitted the priority of his studies but promised to “give it his best shot.” Sagar beat Rohit in the finals to win the champion’s spot.

This opportunity was used by the sponsors to display their new products, amongst which was Cooler Master that launched their latest product in India even before it had hit the American markets. Other event sponsors were Logitech and MAAC with Corsair and Gigabyte. A detail of the ongoings is present on GamerGuru.in.

As AnimationXpress details the event, they post a statement from Clan aTe that was thankful to the event sponsors. Clan aTe was seeded # 1 in the tournament and came through as the winner after much drama. After winning, the team said,

“Its feels awesome to win the KODE5 India finals and we are also honoured to be able to represent India in Moscow. We have 2 months to train and we will really work hard on our game and with the right support, we will definitely do well at the global finals. Thanks to Kreeda for giving us an opportunity to play for India”

A Mumbai based company, Kareeda Gaming, was the host for the event. While the rumor of KODE5 in Pakistan went just like the way it came, there is nothing on the internet to suggest that KODE5 had any intentions to discontinue partnership in Pakistan. Perhaps someone else knows the inside story more?

With a hope that one day gaming in Pakistan, too, will be taken seriously by investors and sponsors, like in our neighboring country, I end this post. The unrealized potential in the market and the amount of people willing to play games for prize-money leaves much to be desired off Pakistani ‘investors.’

Gosugamers have posted a WC3 Replay pack from the event, download it here.

If that is the same replay pack as posted in one of the comments on gaming guru, i’m not sure if it is from the same event. I saw a few of Rohit’s replays… his game was definitely not up to the level it normally is. Other than that, those games were played in 1.20. I would say that replay pack is from KODE5 2006 or something

I meant Gosu gamers, not gaming guru :D

Right… shoot. I had planned to watch them tonight. Great. Any where abouts of Nickunj Bansal, aka vSport.Heaven, the Human player?

I messaged DarKBoi for an interview or a statement, seems like he’s too busy.

Don’t know about them really. The only indian warcrafter that i used to talk to every now and then is Rohit. I would have asked him if those are the correct replays but i don’t see him online these days.
