NGL ONE Finals Playday 1 Review
The NGL One finals are in full swing and we have already had a bunch of really awesome games. BlooDLust shares with us what really went on during the matches in a comprehensive review of Playday 1.
NGL One Finals commenced yesterday with 4 Teams looking to triumph in Warcraft3 includes:
SK.ReiGn > mTw.Protois @ Turtle Rock
SK.ReiGn > mTw.KiWiKaKi @ Lost Temple
SK.ReiGn > mTw.Rainbow @ Terenas Stand
SK.ReiGn > Tw.NightWOlf @ Echo Isles
The first game saw Reign take on a weakened mTw lineup. Hanf wasn’t able to attend because he fell ill. Satiini didn’t even make it to the mTw training camp even though he was offered a ferry ride to Germany. It was going to be really tough for mTw to even compete in this matchup. Reign first beat Protois, then KiWiKaKi, next came Rainbow and finally Nightwolf.
Reign was unstoppable and in great form, mTw had no chance! GG Reign!
MYM 4 – 2 Mousesports
MYM]Susiria < ouz.HasuObs @ Turtle Rock
MYM]FoCuS < mouz.HasuObs @ Lost Temple
M]Lucifer > mouz.HasuObs @ Twisted Meadows
MYM]Lucifer > mouz.SaSe @ Echo Isles
MYM]Lucifer > mouz.Happy @ Twisted Meadows
MYM]Lucifer > mouz.ToD @ Lost Temple
This was definitely the tougher of the two matches. MYM were the favourites for this matchup since Moon finally has showed up after his rest and the fact that Fly100% wasn’t able to get a transit VISA of the UK.
Coming to the matches, Mouz started off by sending HasuObs as the first player against Susiria. HasuObs played well and surprised everyone by beating MYM’s captain Susiria. HasuObs second game was with FoCuS on Lost temple a predominantly Orc map and should have been no trouble for FoCuS. This was the most surprising result of all, HasuObs managed to somehow cause an upset and beat FoCuS on LT! As former UD player, I was shocked at the result, how could a UD player beat and Orc on LT?!?!
Moving on, HasuObs unexpectedly bagged 2 points for Mousesports and did his best. Next for MYM was the UD powerhouse Lucifer. He managed to easily beat HasuObs no problem on Twisted Meadows, high level heroes DK/Lich/Dark Ranger was too much to handle for HasuObs.
Lucifer against SaSe, a bit of an anti climax, one would think SaSe being one of the better European Nightelves would have shown a better performance. He got his heroes killed a lot of times when they had staff and invulnerability pots. It was quite sad and Lucifer got the win.
Lucifer was now up against a European UD powerhouse in the name of Happy. I wasn’t able to see this game because waaaghtv never streamed the game. Lucifer won this one as well.
Last but not least, it was ToD’s turn to step into the limelight and try to save Mousesports and face off against Moon in the final game. For fans wanting to see ToD vs Moon could not be disappointed since the entertainment factor was high in the Lucifer vs ToD game on Lost Temple. A Dreadlord first with mass ghouls which got to lvl 10. ToD then started to drag the game once he knew he lost. Lucifer all killed Mousesports! GG Lucifer!
Winner Bracket Finals
MYM 4 – 2 SK
SK.ReMinD < MYM]Susiria @ Echo Isles
SK.Lyn > MYM]Susiria @ Gnoll Wood
SK.Lyn < MYM]Moon @ Terenas Stand
SK.SoJu < MYM]Moon @ Turtle Rock
SK.ReiGn > MYM]Moon @ Twisted Meadows
SK.ReiGn < MYM]FoCuS @ Lost Temple
The winner bracket finals between MYM and SK were a tough game in prospect. Most fans went for the score of 4-3 to either side.
First match was between Susiria and Remind, just like in the game between SaSe and Lucifer, Remind lost his heroes too often. With an expo up, he bought his heroes 4 or 5 times and didn’t properly use Silence with the help of his dark Ranger. Each time Susiria used to come up and nuke his heroes to death! It was a poor performance by Remind hence the score was 1-0 to the Dreamteam.
Next up, Susiria vs Lyn on Gnoll Wood. Another orc map, will there be a surprise? Not really, Lyn finished off Susiria in 8 min.
Next game was the comeback of the “5th Race” Moon after his long break. Lyn played really well in the beginning; effective harassment by the blademaster cancelling Ancients of winds and taking out wells as well slowed the talon production. But after that, it all went down, the Demon Hunter was strong with the items that he had and it proved too much for Lyn to cope. Moon eventually beat Lyn. Next up was the match between SoJu and Moon. During the online season, SoJu was undefeated, managing to get 4 all kills in total! The match on TR was a close spawn and both creeped their DH’s to lvl 3 then started producing mass archers with mass AoW’s. Once Moons expansion was up it became really tough for SoJu to cope with the mass archer army and lost the game.
Step up the inform Reign! One of the better matches of the day for sure! Reign’s comeback was great! Initially, moon hold off Reign dk lvl1 aura harassment quite easily, Moon also managed to surround Reigns DK by a wisp surround and killed the DK. From that moment onwards, Reign had enough gargs to disrupt Moons economy and not let him settle down and farm to make his Panda/DH strong. A few battles occurred in which Reign’s timing of the Stone form was just immaculate so that panda’s breath of fire is wasted. This happened 3 times! Which eventually led to a strong army of gargs and a frost wyrm and high level DK and Lich. Later on in the game, Reign just went for hero nuking which was Moon just couldn’t handle. GG Reign!
Score MYM 3 – 2 SK, step up FoCuS. After his embarrassing loss to HasuObs on LT, FoCuS once again picked up LT as his map. Initially, Reign did a fantastic job to keep the BM from leveling up and also cancelled a beastery to delay wind rider production. Later on he also managed to cancel Focus’s expo as well. It wasn’t enough to stop FoCuS who eventually had a good mix of kudos wind riders a strong BM with 3 gloves of haste!! And a lvl 3 TC. FoCuS overwhelmed Reign and hence won the game. MYM Dreamteam wins 4-2.
MYM is in the grand final and will be waiting for mouz/mtw vs SK to decide who’ll play against them. One thing to note, a team coming from the loser bracket will have to beat MYM twice to become NGL-One champions.

Lyn vs Moon was a really nice game, and imo Lyn played better than moon overall. Too bad orb of venom is way too powerful in certain situations. Nerf plz!!
