LINKdotNET’s unlimited volume DSL launched but don’t jump just yet!
Last week we all saw our newspapers bombarded with LINKdotNET (LdN) advertisements who happen to be a new entrant into the DSL (Broadband) game in Pakistan. LdN ask for no installation charges and offer internet at unlimited usage volumes. Don’t believe me, read their tariff’s page. All at the going Bandwidths of 256K, 512K and 1Mbps rates. Add to that the marginally competitive pricing, LdN might just go pop with the DSL masses. Of course, Nayatel, a subsidiary of Micronet Broadband Limited also started their Sundays and 8 to 8 (that is 2000 to 0800) free timings a few weeks back.
I advice caution before subscribing for any new service, like Wateen, I will ask one not to jump at the opportunity of signing up for this service asap. Mostly because the customers are not happy with the quality of service at the beginning of a product. And secondly, companies themselves are catching pace with the surge of demands on human and technological levels. The same thing happened for PTCL DSL providers who were overwhelmed by the amount of work they had to undertake after the launch of the service.
A good sign however amongst all this is that DSL providers have learned that the best cap for any account on a broadband connection is ‘unlimited’. Broadband means unlimited fast-speed access to the internet and I am sure there are thousands of requests at the end of the month from people who have already max’d out their volumes! Download dummies and gamers for the win. PTCL too has no charges for usage during 0100 to 0800, at competitive packages all of whom have a 30GB usage cap. This progression tells us that they copy each other fast, in order to remain competitive. Yeah! You hear that Dancom (my provider)? So although you don’t need to change your provider for a little while as they might lower their tariffs, I might write an email to mine and complain about how ridiculous the packages are.
Babar Bhatti shows optimism in the fact that LdN was launched. Kashif Aziz at Chowrangi has discussed the operational and structural side of LdN and how the cable breakage in the Mediterranean would effect their initial services. Javelin on the WCCFTech Forums says, “Game On!!! Win Win Situation here for us.” While I don’t know how their moderator Imad Sani says WOL and Dancom are both now a subsidries of LdN/Orsacom?

I
amwas using Dancom Online until I knew it was LdN. The services are not bad and the bandwidth usage while different applications run has slightly improved. Now I can do three things at a time; Youtube, browse, and download. If you weren’t a Dancom subscriber, then I still suggest waiting a little while. Otherwise, its your own choice, if you are really fed up of your previous provider.Comment Posted at: February 13th, 2008 at 12:56 am

As for my connection (which was Dancom, which now is LINKdotNET) it has the same upstream and downstream rates. I have the 256Kbps up and down. So I bet that is similar with all the other packages. Which one are you getting?

This is Usman Khawaja from Sialkot-Pakistan and I am using broadband DSL connection – 1Mbps of Link Dot Net. I had a very poor experience of Link Dot Net’s DSL connection. Currently they are suffering by “recurrent internet disconnection and speed issues”. Now one month has passed but the issues still persist. So I will recommend everyone not to buy pain of using LinkDotNet.
Anyways, I have written a blog post where I have shared my thoughts about poor services by Link Dot Net.
Thanks for your attention.

Hi dear all,
Although Linkdotnet packages has changes from 1st March like 256k to 512k in same amount that is main Plus Point of LDN,we can get better speed and quality in same amount( it rocks) as comapre to PTCL ,LDn offers 2 MB in rs 3900/- and PTCL is still 4900 it s not Fair.

HI,
Dear All,
I want to share something very special of my experience with LinkdotNet’s
highly remarkable service, although i am DSL/Broadband user at KHI last days i visited to ISD and wanted to use internet at my home in evening, at that time i got speed problem with PTCL Phone-n-Net service then i tried SMS4Net Services of LinkdotNet which i have known through it’s Newspapper last Month.
All of you will not imagine that within 20 Sec i have got my Login and Password straightaway through my Mobilink prepaid connection and got very quality and econimical services.
i felt several advantages of this unmatchable services which i want to share with you all from many aspects.
1-First of all it’s LinkdotNet (subsidary of Orescom Telecom LTD)
2-WOL is a LinkdotNet’s Dialup Services operating in more then 350 cities in Pakistan.
3-LinkdotNet Partnered with Mobilink and Warid Telecom to launched a revolutionary services called SMS4NET.
4-This Service allows Mobilink and Warid’s Post paid and prepaid user’s to purshase WOL internet Hrs through just simplest SMS to 965.
i also want to share the whole few secnds procedure to avail this tremendous services from any where ,any time.
Send SMS from your Mobilink Number to 965
1. Type 10 for 4 Internet hours @ Rs. 10
2. Type 20 for 8 Internet hours @ Rs. 20
3. Type 50 for 25 Internet hours @ Rs. 50
You will receive an auto generated SMS for confirmation, reply it with “Yes” and you will get WOL Internet login and password instantly in response.
i feel it’s benefit from Economical aspect, as it’s very econimical if we compare with facility “any where and any time” without any cash, because amount is deducted through post paid(bills) and Prepaid from current Balance.
So do try LinkDotNet special service, specially for students it will be more convenient more then Scratch Card how to carry all the time.

Hi guys! I am a long time user of WOL and my brother used to have a Dancom connection which has now turned into LDN. Well, I’m still using dial-up, but I’m very happy with the SMS 4 Net service of LDN and MOBILINK. I mean…for majority of internet users in Pakistan, it is a cool service and you can get internet hours up till 25 hours just for Rs. 2 per hour when you send an SMS to 965…you get login and password in seconds and you are good to log on!
For many people who don’t have the money or power to buy a DSL connection this service is a MUST TRY!!

hay Raheel,
u can get instant dialup internet hrs only through Mobilink and Warid , so if u have both then try again.
Comment Posted at: October 15th, 2008 at 10:20 am
Hi Raheel’s
i also tried SMS4NET it’s good, but i heared that PTCL is offering Free Dialup from 18th SO what will be the benefit of SMS4net and other cards /dialup Packages.
Comment Posted at: October 20th, 2008 at 2:36 pm
friend,
PTCL is used to offer some thing but that should be beneficial for the customer’s or for it’s current user’s. as normally free things give us some problem when we need some minor things in urgency and same have done with me , thats why i am used to for WOL Dialup Services SMS4NET specially at night timings and when i required in urgency .
