[A minor clarification added at the end]

ByteSense, a Pakistani startup based out of Lahore is planning to launch it’s multiplayer gaming system to the masses with-in a few days. They call it ‘Ziyro’!

In a chat I had with their CEO, Muhammad ‘Nash’ Nasrullah - a graduate of Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), I was told ‘to hold on to my seat,’ as there are about to introduce something that is more ‘mind-blowing’ than anything that is in the market right now; we talked about Micronet Broadband’s Gaming Service, 3G2 Pavilion, and that Worldcall had it’s own servers up and running. ByteSense has signed a deal with Wateen under which they will develop a gaming system for them. Ziyro, a product of ByteSense, is available for all such service providers.

ByteSense will provide the back-end services for their product and that they are in the process of moving their servers from United States to Lahore [Clarification # 1], and their official website for the product will be up in a few days. I was also promised ‘exclusive screenshots’ for the system. Woohoo! So stay tuned and watch this space!

ByteSense seems dedicated to the gaming industry in Pakistan, which is a rather untapped market at the moment. They sponsored the entire üGX 2007 and continue to do so for other events too.

All in all, all this is an awesome development for the game service provision in Pakistan. We gamers are starved of some good game host-servers, as the ping issues and the latency with spikes on home connections just kills all the fun. Next time I catch Nash, I’ll ask more about Ziyro and the company’s future plans.

Are they’re any other such company’s that you think we and the rest of the gaming community should know about? Feel free to Contribute.

[Clarification # 1: "All Wateen systems are in Pakistan. I was referring to our web servers being shifted from Lahore to US for higher uptime (as you can see the site was down because of that). But we're not moving Wateen servers anywhere." -Nash. Once again, thank you Nash, for filling in on us that bit of detail. I know you are under strict policies not to talk much about stuff but hey, the readers wana know :)]

Thanks Obaid for covering us! Gaming is a real exciting field for us and we’ve been focused alot on making the gamer’s experience as smooth as possible. You’ll see more about how we’ve done that when we come out with more details of Ziyro.

Unfortunately, we have updated our SLD records and will take around around 48 hours for global DNS cache refresh. So if http://www.bytesense.biz isn’t working, try twiki.bytesense.biz (yes, we use a custom twiki hack for our website)

Absolutely Splendid ! This will be a great booster for the pakistani gamer community, and we all hope that this “untapped” section, gets more sponsors and Competitions, as well as people who can help boost Pakistan in events like WCG, ECL etc etc…

I agree with you Atof, and the main reason sponsors run away is that the product they are offered is not ‘up to the standard.’ Happened countless number of times before with ESWC, WCG, WSCG and KODE5 interests. Let work to change that.

Micronet 3Gsqr Gaming Pavilion is the best in the market or you can say extremely the ultimate platform for gaming in South Asia. I have hardly seen anyone ever done any activity upto this level with 24hrs gaming support in Pakistan. I am their user and love to be part of their network. Whenever there are good user feedbacks their admins take quick and very professional actions, which indeed is something that defines their approach towards customer services. Also they have added COD4 the ultimate game of the new millennium and are also planning to add more games.

Curently they are offering this service free of cost which indeed is a very big step.. :-)
Hats off to MBL 3Gsqr Pavilion….

Indeed, all servers should be offered free of service charge, I agree. More over it was a step forward by Micronet who actually changed from Worldcall’s strategy, of limiting only Worldcall subscribers from using the server, to letting others in. One such step was initially taken by Dancom, somewhere in 2005, who launched a dedicated Quake 3 Arena server and another server which I can’t remember in Islamabad. Gamers from other DSL services joined in the party.

I have already discussed Pavilion earlier. But me being me suspects that free servers can do only so much. Thanks for the comment :)
